New Year, a new chapter, a new verse or the same old story? Ultimately, we write it, the choice is ours.

Happy New Year everyone!
Apologies for the silence over the past few months, I have taken some much needed time to reflect on my priorities and took some time out for my mental health, I am feeling much better and I’d like to thank those who offered their support.
So without further ado, with a new year comes plenty of new opportunities and with it being a sparkly new decade, I fully intend to make the most of it!
As I said goodbye to 2019, I like most professional people, took time to reflect upon the years’ achievements and wrote some new goals for the year. 2019 brought some fantastic moments for my career; I completed my CIPD exams (yes I passed the second one!) and in the next couple of months I should have a shiny new certificate to put on my wall! I spoke at three conferences, co-hosted the Natural HR conference with the wonderful Garry Turner, spoke at Disrupt HR Nottingham, and finally became a published author with Be Kind Magazine – phew!
Moving into 2020, I have some rather large goals that I am aiming to achieve, some I cannot talk about until the details are formalised, but one thing to note is that I am not playing it safe, nor am I playing small, it’s time to go big or go home.
Following the success of the calendar in November, HR acts of kindness returns in February, I am starting my own podcast series in April “How to Fail in HR”, and I am completing the first draft of my book “Launch your career in HR” – yes it finally has a title!
Additionally, I am in the process of upgrading my CIPD membership to Chartered level which is exciting and of course I am speaking at various conferences and events over the coming months, so I have a lot to look forward to this year already.
What are your aspirations for the year? Have you set some goals? Do feel free to share what you’re getting up to, you never know, you might inspire someone else to achieve theirs!
