Frequently, kindness is often considered a sign of weakness especially in the serious business world. As professional people we don’t want to show weakness, especially when competition for promotional opportunities or desire to climb the career ladder is so great and kindness is always seen as a “fluffy” subject and can appear to affect our chances of being successful. Everyone knows you can’t be a successful professional in business by being a doormat, fortunately though, practicing kindness at work has absolutely nothing to do with being a doormat and everything to do with showing great courage and strength.Continue reading “The Kind Office; Be Kind Magazine feature”
New Year, a new chapter, a new verse or the same old story? Ultimately, we write it, the choice is ours.
Happy New Year everyone!
Apologies for the silence over the past few months, I have taken some much needed time to reflect on my priorities and took some time out for my mental health, I am feeling much better and I’d like to thank those who offered their support.
So without further ado, with a new year comes plenty of new opportunities and with it being a sparkly new decade, I fully intend to make the most of it!Continue reading “Goodbye 2019, hello 2020!”
Following the success of my article in Be Kind magazine, I have decided to evolve HR acts of kindness by releasing a calendar each month on the blog.
It has been a lot of work (and thinking!) in the making but I am delighted to bring this to you all, thank you for being so patient with me. A lot of people have asked me why I’m launching it now and not in January, well as the seasons change, we are often negative towards those darker mornings, what seem like long days and miserable weather; we find ourselves not being particularly kind to ourselves, so this is what made me think that this is the perfect time to launch it.Continue reading “HR acts of kindness calendar November 2019”
“Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits”Samuel Butler
Autumn is by far my favourite time of the whole year, cozy jumpers, hot coffee, leaves falling in the crisp air, and nothing beats a hot stew from the slow cooker after an walk outdoors with my dog Bron!
A lot of people experience the blues after a glorious summer, but to me, the Autumn season brings a whole new kind of energy, filled with optimism and opportunity.
After completing my final CIPD exam at the end of September, it is time for me to complete the final pieces of outstanding coursework for my Level 7 and bring the focus back to the blog, and I couldn’t be more excited!Continue reading ““All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey…””
Plus an exclusive announcement about HR acts of kindness!
You must be used to these videos now and no I’m not getting any better at recording them haha! In this week’s video I have received a question from a contact on Twitter regarding the bridge between level 3 and level 7 CIPD qualifications, is level 5 worth it? Or do we go straight to 7 (do not pass go or collect £200)
In the video, you will also hear some buzz around HR acts of kindness and a secret (not so secret now!) announcement about an exciting project coming soon!Continue reading “I’ve completed my level 3 CIPD, do I go straight to level 7?”

One common question I get asked all the time when I’m talking about my blog is “how do you find inspiration to write about all this stuff?”
Firstly, there is always a deep meaning behind every one of my published blog posts (there’s over 200 of them now!) and whilst it is not intended to be positive vibes everywhere, it is just how it has turned out, being a naturally positive person gives it direction which comes through naturally in my work. Secondly it helps to be passionate about the subject matter, you never know how you might inspire others through your experiences, this is something I never take for granted.Continue reading “Take time to look up once in a while!”

Cannot quite believe that I am writing this but with any significant milestone, I wanted to celebrate and thank you all for your support with my little HR blog.
Yesterday I had an incredible 700 visitors to my blog! If you were one of them, thank you so very much, I hope that you are enjoying my HR musings.
When I started the blog just under four years ago, never did I think I’d get even 100 people viewing my blog, but recently you may have noticed that I have a lot more content and that is only set to increase over the coming months. I have enjoyed writing this blog so much and with highlights like HR acts of kindness and the CIPD qualifications Q&A as well as being a finalist at the UK Blog Awards 2019, this blog has not only introduced me to many new connections, it has also presented me with so many incredible opportunities by reaching a worldwide audience.
So without being soppy, this is a post to thank you for your support and I look forward to writing many more posts for you to enjoy.
