Thomas Cook, what happens to the employees?

This morning, we are waking up to the sad news that Thomas Cook has entered compulsory liquidation and has ceased to trade, leaving 21,000 employees without their jobs.

The collapse of Thomas Cook to most is surprising, but after several consistent profit warnings over the past few years, and having experienced the process myself, to me, it only seemed like a matter of time.

Plus an exclusive announcement about HR acts of kindness!

You must be used to these videos now and no I’m not getting any better at recording them haha! In this week’s video I have received a question from a contact on Twitter regarding the bridge between level 3 and level 7 CIPD qualifications, is level 5 worth it? Take time to look up once in a while!

“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.”

Walt Disney

One common question I get asked all the time when I’m talking about my blog is “how do you find inspiration to write about all this stuff?”

Firstly, there is always a deep meaning behind every one of my published blog posts (there’s over 200 of them now!) and whilst it is not intended to be positive vibes everywhere, it is just how it has turned out, being a naturally positive person gives it direction which comes through naturally in my work. Secondly it helps to be passionate about the subject matter, you never know how you might inspire others through your experiences, this is something I never take for granted.

Is a CIPD Level 7 qualification right for me?

“If you can dream it you can do it.”

Walt Disney

Questions you should ask in a job interview

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure”

Colin Powell

Have you ever been in an interview and been stuck when the interviewer asks you “have you got any questions for us?” we are often so focused on saying the right things in the interview itself that we often forget that we are also seeing if their role and company is the right career move!

With a buoyant recruitment market, it is becoming increasingly important for candidates to not just demonstrate what they can do, but what other qualities they bring, for example, when I speak to clients, it is mostly focused on motivational factors and drive to achieve a job well done.

Celebrating 700 blog views!

“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come”

Dwayne Johnson

Cannot quite believe that I am writing this but with any significant milestone, I wanted to celebrate and thank you all for your support with my little HR blog.

Yesterday I had an incredible 700 visitors to my blog! If you were one of them, thank you so very much, I hope that you are enjoying my HR musings.

When I started the blog just under four years ago, never did I think I’d get even 100 people viewing my blog, but recently you may have noticed that I have a lot more content and that is only set to increase over the coming months. I have enjoyed writing this blog so much and with highlights like HR acts of kindness and the CIPD qualifications Q&A as well as being a finalist at the UK Blog Awards 2019, this blog has not only introduced me to many new connections, it has also presented me with so many incredible opportunities by reaching a worldwide audience.

So without being soppy, this is a post to thank you for your support and I look forward to writing many more posts for you to enjoy.
