Cannot quite believe that I am writing this but with any significant milestone, I wanted to celebrate and thank you all for your support with my little HR blog.
Yesterday I had an incredible 700 visitors to my blog! If you were one of them, thank you so very much, I hope that you are enjoying my HR musings.
When I started the blog just under four years ago, never did I think I’d get even 100 people viewing my blog, but recently you may have noticed that I have a lot more content and that is only set to increase over the coming months. I have enjoyed writing this blog so much and with highlights like HR acts of kindness and the CIPD qualifications Q&A as well as being a finalist at the UK Blog Awards 2019, this blog has not only introduced me to many new connections, it has also presented me with so many incredible opportunities by reaching a worldwide audience.
So without being soppy, this is a post to thank you for your support and I look forward to writing many more posts for you to enjoy.

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved the Danish concept of Hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”), I have included it as part of my life for around four years now and I think I have it all down to a T!

A recent research report published by Gallup suggests that the worlds happiness levels are at their lowest level in over a decade. Well that’s a depressing concept to start this blog post off with but unfortunately that is a reality. Gallup surveyed 154,000 people across 146 different countries, proving that happiness is a worldwide issue.
Recently, I was fortunate to discuss this very topic at the Natural HR Conference at Monkey World in Dorset, and the session centred around trying to get people to realise where true happiness came from and if we keep looking for it (at work or otherwise!) then we simply won’t find it.
As I write this blog post, instead of sitting in my usual spot, the office at home, I thought I would continue the festive mood by sitting by the Christmas tree with it’s beautiful twinkling lights whilst drinking a cup of tea and a mince pie. You cannot get more festive than this!
Christmas is a time of year conjures up a mixture of thoughts and feelings, it is also a season of familiarity, full of traditions and not to mention an endless to do list. Whilst most soak up the atmosphere of the festive season, one thing that people think of, yet often forget to do is reflect upon the year that we are about to leave behind; sometimes we just need to take stock amongst the overflowing preparations to organise ourselves for the fresh year that awaits.
We are only 9 days away from Christmas Day, I hope all of your festive preparations are going well and that you’re enjoying the build up to the big day.
When we are feeling frazzled in the build up to Christmas, sometimes it is good to just take some time to yourself, so today’s it is simply about being kinder to oursleves and making a little bit of me time.
It’s 1st December and many of us will be dusting off those Christmas jumpers or finding a new way to decorate the office with those old decorations!
Right now, all over the world, parents are scratching their heads to think of new and inventive ways to reintroduce their Elf on the Shelf for their little ones. The purpose of the elf is quite simple; he causes mischief deliberately to encourage children to be on their best behaviour before Santa visits at Christmas. It’s a bit of fun and helps generate excitement leading up to the big day.
But it’s not all fun and games for the parents; there is a committed requirement for creativity, hard work and most of all effort, so what is in it for the adults I hear you cry?! It is simply to see the joy of their children faces (and for them to go to bed on time!).
Spreading joy this time of year can be difficult, so I have given HR Acts of Kindness a festive makeover for advent, for no other reason but to spread joy to all the HR folk from far and wide!
