How can flexible working help your business?

“Women are working more, men are understanding their value as caregivers, women are primary breadwinners—I mean, we could go on and on and on. Things are different. So we can’t keep operating like everything is the same, and that’s what many of us have done. And I think it’s up to us to change the conversation.”

Michelle Obama

As an HR Consultant, if I had £1 for every time a client said to me that “flexible working is only for parents” I would be a very wealthy lady!

The most common question my clients ask is “how can flexible working help my business?” so if you are thinking just that, then read on!

Whilst flexible working is traditionally associated with working parents, we must acknowledge that the world of work is changing and with that, we are seeing a shift in the demographic in society (a third of workers will be over 50 by the end of 2020) therefore the myth around flexible working being just for parents, is simply that, just a myth! Now everyone has the right to request their employer to work more flexibly, which means that change for businesses is inevitable.

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure”

Colin Powell

Have you ever been in an interview and been stuck when the interviewer asks you “have you got any questions for us?” we are often so focused on saying the right things in the interview itself that we often forget that we are also seeing if their role and company is the right career move!

Celebrating 700 blog views!

“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come”

Dwayne Johnson

Cannot quite believe that I am writing this but with any significant milestone, I wanted to celebrate and thank you all for your support with my little HR blog.

Yesterday I had an incredible 700 visitors to my blog! If you were one of them, thank you so very much, I hope that you are enjoying my HR musings.

When I started the blog just under four years ago, never did I think I’d get even 100 people viewing my blog, but recently you may have noticed that I have a lot more content and that is only set to increase over the coming months. I have enjoyed writing this blog so much and with highlights like HR acts of kindness and the CIPD qualifications Q&A as well as being a finalist at the UK Blog Awards 2019, this blog has not only introduced me to many new connections, it has also presented me with so many incredible opportunities by reaching a worldwide audience.

So without being soppy, this is a post to thank you for your support and I look forward to writing many more posts for you to enjoy.
