As many of you already know, I have recently taken my CIPD Level 7 examinations in January and have recently received my results; I passed one but sadly the one I worked really hard on, I failed.
That F on that piece of paper was devastating, I’ve been in HR for 13 years, worked really hard, know my stuff and usually have a thick skin but that F really hurt!
I am writing this about a month after receiving that F, and I have had a chance to step back and reflect on it and that F really isn’t that bad, in fact, it has taught me a lot of things which can be taken as a positive through my career journey; after all, if life isn’t lived like you’re on a rollercoaster, it’s not living, it’s existing.

What an incredible year 2018 has been!
Career wise, it has been very hectic but productive and I am thankful for the experiences that the year gave me.
I am also grateful for all of the support, lovely comments and wonderful connections that I have made. I am looking forward to much of this in 2019!

Wowsers what a few weeks it has been! Apologies for the quiet time, but I quickly realised that I am nearly halfway through my CIPD Level 7 Diploma and everything has started to happen at once, both in my personal and professional life. This has lead me to take some tough decisions such as not participating within my local CIPD branch as much as I’d like, I’m also not exercising as much as I’d like or reading as much as I usually do; but I’m keeping in mind how important this is to me and why all the hard will be worth it in the end.
I’m not going to lie, these past few weeks have really tested my ability to juggle everything and I needed to take some time to re-proritise my extensive list so I have set myself a deadline, to complete my Level 7 Diploma by October; that’s one research project and two exams to complete; three modules in total. I can do this!

When I started my study journey all those years ago, I had no idea how much choice there would be when it came to CIPD qualifications. If you are thinking of starting your journey, or not sure on the next steps, then this post may help clear up the confusion that often comes when trying to decide your next development move.
If you are looking for a long and successful career within HR, then a CIPD qualification is an essential part of your CV, as some organisations seek them as a requirement for some roles, and with competition for HR positions increasing, employers like to see a candidate who is ambitious and motivated, especially one who shows initiative to develop their skills independently.
But with so many options, how do you possibly choose the right option for you? Having almost finished my qualifications, I wanted to share my experience to help others decide what CIPD qualification is the right route for them.

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of speaking at this years’ CIPD Student Conference at Aston University in Birmingham, where the theme was “develop yourself, develop your HR career”.
The day was incredibly inspiring and it was fantastic to see so many people from all different career backgrounds, getting excited about the future of their careers.
The day was full of fantastic speakers, Ian Turner from Specsavers gave an overview on his career but also why HR should focus upon culture, this was supported by a staggering figure that 68% of employees do not feel that their business is actively supporting a positive culture. This is an opportunity for HR to really add value where it really matters.

Forget resolutions, make 2018 the year to achieve your goals!
The mince pies have been eaten and the parties have wound down. This is the time of year that many people sit down and write a list of resolutions to achieve by this time next year, only to be left disheartened a few weeks later; but not this year.
This year, I have decided to tear up those resolutions and break that negative cycle by doing something meaningful. As a HR professional, continuous development is really important and a priority, so I have set myself a goal to complete my level 7 Diploma in HR Management including the two exams which are set for May and September.

I am incredibly excited about this blog post as I can now finally reveal that over the next year or so, I am going to be working in partnership with ICS Learn to complete my CIPD Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management.
After completing my CIPD Level 7 Certificate with ICS earlier this year; I was delighted to be approached by ICS to top up my qualification to a full Diploma by being a part of their ICS Real Stories.
