Succeeding through failure

As many of you already know, I have recently taken my CIPD Level 7 examinations in January and have recently received my results; I passed one but sadly the one I worked really hard on, I failed.

That F on that piece of paper was devastating, I’ve been in HR for 13 years, worked really hard, know my stuff and usually have a thick skin but that F really hurt!

I am writing this about a month after receiving that F, and I have had a chance to step back and reflect on it and that F really isn’t that bad, in fact, it has taught me a lot of things which can be taken as a positive through my career journey; after all, if life isn’t lived like you’re on a rollercoaster, it’s not living, it’s existing.

For those of you who know me well, you’ll know how much of a book worm I am! To celebrate World Book Day 2019, I have gathered a list of my favourite top ten business and inspirational books to share with you all to inspire your next read.

I have picked these books in particular, because I think they are inspirational, motivational and brilliant. I couldn’t put them down, and like all good secrets, I had to share them! They have each individually helped me to shape my career and support my career development with helpful tips that I have taken away, and I continue to use them throughout my every day working life.

How can employers effectively support employee financial wellbeing?

Many people reading the title of this post will be wondering why is employee financial wellbeing important, and what does it have to do with me as an employer?

Financial worries account for the majority of stress felt by employees in the workplace today, this can be attributed to the rising costs of living combined with the stagnation of salaries. However, the impact that personal finances has on your employee’s health in terms of poor psychological wellbeing, higher stress and anxiety levels, can be felt heavily by the employer such as increased levels of absence and lower levels of productivity.
