I started my working life as a Travel Agent and selling holidays on the high street, I made a move into HR as an HR administrator, and now I run my own multi-award winning business which is a dream come true.

Hello! Long time no see…

I know it has been a long time since I have done a personal HR blog but to be honest, I haven’t really felt like writing for a while now, but I wanted to thank everyone who has been missing my little HR blog and have been writing to me directly!

Since I launched my business Rebox HR in March 2020, it has been incredibly busy and my little business has gained so much momentum, I’m incredibly proud of how well it has done but it leaves me very little time to blog at the rate I used to! I am writing lots of new content both on here and on my business blog, so if you’re looking for the more of the legal HR stuff, make sure you pop over and give it a follow.

The main reason people contact me is to ask about their own HR careers and what they need to do to progress so as an idea, some of the main questions I am being asked are:

  • How do I get into an HR career?
  • How can I progress my career?
  • I’m stuck in my HR job, I want to do something else – help!
  • What CIPD qualification is right for me?
  • Is it worth upgrading my CIPD membership?

As I am now getting around 10-15 emails a week, I thought I would take an opportunity to meet some of you online to talk all things HR, my book Launch Your HR Career (grab your copy here!) and answer your burning questions!

Keep out of the boardroom! Why are HR still on the outside looking in?

It seems that for too long HR leaders have been denied a seat in the majority of boardrooms. In light of the current time of uncertainty (Brexit anyone?) don’t we think it is time to bring the human back as a business priority and allow people skills to take centre stage again?

For those of us in HR, we already know that no matter what a company produces, the service it provides or even the brands the organisation represents, at the heart of it is its people.

I’ve completed my level 3 CIPD, do I go straight to level 7?

One common question I get asked all the time when I’m talking about my blog is “how do you find inspiration to write about all this stuff?”

Firstly, there is always a deep meaning behind every one of my published blog posts (there’s over 200 of them now!) and whilst it is not intended to be positive vibes everywhere, it is just how it has turned out, being a naturally positive person gives it direction which comes through naturally in my work. Secondly it helps to be passionate about the subject matter, you never know how you might inspire others through your experiences, this is something I never take for granted.
