Following the popularity of door 12, I had to answer so many emails and messages that I completely forgot to issue door 13, so I do apologise and to make up for it, today is going to be a double door!

HR acts of kindness advent calendar; 12th December, creating a culture of kindness

Can you believe that we are actually halfway through HR acts of kindness? It seems that December is passing us by and it is often the case that at this time of year, whilst our intentions are good, kindness can often be overlooked through the chaos.

In short, today is not a challenge or task based one, it is about creating a culture of kindness and how it can make all the difference to the environments that we are exposed to.

Happy Saturday! How did you all get on with yesterday’s challenge? It was pretty thought-provoking for a Friday challenge but it is one that can make a really big difference.

Today is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, this can be a pretty stressful experience for many of us (I have to line shop as my husband gets really overwhelmed when the shops are busy) personally, I enjoy the experience of watching others carefully (and sometimes not so much!) pick out gifts for their loved ones.

HR acts of kindness advent calendar; 7th December

At the recent CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition, I travelled home with two other members of the blog squad and I was shocked and saddened to see so many homeless people on the streets of Manchester. We came across a young homeless lady called Megan and she told us that she slept in the car park opposite where she was sat, her story brought me to tears and I’ve still to this day, not stopped thinking about her.

We offered to buy Megan a hot drink, food and anything else that she may have needed; but she politely declined our offers, with my husband being a former driver, he used to travel the country and stop for coffee at McDonalds, as a result he picked up the coffee stickers that are on the side and collected many of them over the past 12 months. I had a handful of these so I gave her every last one and told her to make sure she got herself a hot chocolate or coffee whenever she needed it.
